صفيحة يافاوية / Safiha yafawiyya (Yaffan pinwheels)
The dish
صَفِيحَة يَافَاوِيَّة ("ṣafīḥa yāfāwīyya") is a type of safiha, or flatbread, believed to have originated in the coastal city of يافا (yāfā; "Yaffa," sometimes "Jaffa"). While other versions of safiha consist of a flat piece of dough topped with meat, Yaffan safiha are made by rolling dough out to a transparent thinness, folding it to enclose a filling of meat or spinach, and then whirling it around into a pinwheel shape. More highly valued in Yaffa than flat safiha, Yaffan safiha inspires proprietary feelings amongst residents and emigrants. The technique has, however, spread to other areas in Palestine, as well as to Alexandria, Egypt, where a large number of Yaffan exiles have resettled.
Yaffan safiha may also be called "حواية" ("ḥawāya"), after a kind of towel that is stitched into a spiral and placed on top of the head to cushion it while carrying jugs of water, or trays that are hot from the oven. One Yaffan woman remembers her mother assembling these pastries at home and then bringing them, in a large copper tray, to the baker, so they could be cooked in a shared oven for a small fee. The baker's wife would have to wait to use the oven another day. The usage of communal ovens by those who do not have an oven in their home is still common practice in rural areas of Palestine.
Traditionally, the dough used to make Yaffan safiha includes only flour, salt, oil, and water. Some modern Palestinian recipes leaven the dough with baking powder; or include milk powder as a way to use food aid from NGOs, which seek to alleviate the effects of the Israeli occupation's extreme restriction of transport, travel, and agricultural activities on Palestinians' diets. With a spinach filling and without milk powder, the safa'ih may be described as "صيامي" ("ṣiyāmī): a word derived from "صِيَام" ("ṣiyām"; "fast") but which, due to the abstention from meat mandated during the Lenten fast, is colloquially used to mean "vegetarian."
Golden brown and fragrant with olive oil, these safa'ih combine layers of crisp, flaky dough with a savory, well-spiced filling. Recipes for both a 'meat' and a spinach filling are provided. A side of yoghurt and a garnish of mint round out the flavors of the filling and add tanginess and textural contrast.

The Bride of Palestine
Yaffa is a port city with an ancient history which, until the 20th century, was the largest Arab city in, and the cultural and economic capital of, Palestine. For this reason it has sometimes been called عروس" "فلسطين ("'arūs filasṭīn"); "The Bride of Palestine." With the 1909 founding of the nearby Tel Aviv, Yaffa began to be considered its "twin" or "sister" ("האחיות") city; it had a distinctly Arab character where Tel Aviv was almost entirely Jewish. Yaffa was thus considered in disctinctly racialized terms: both attraction and threat; a source of authentic rootedness in the land which could be tapped, but also a potentially contagious bastion of Oriental "weak[ness]" ("חליש").
Yaffa had been a popular destination for culinary tourism in Mandate Palestine, with young settlers heading to the seaside to escape from religious studies and religious dietary restrictions—associated with diaspora Judaism and a lack of connection to a homeland—and to eat earthier Arab foods such as hummus, falafel, kebab, and ful.
In 1948, Zionist paramilitary organization Irgun dropped several tons of British bombs on major civilian areas of Yaffa in order to overwhelm resistance and empty the city of its Arab population; they destroyed the much of the Old City in the process. The neighborhood of المنشية (Manshiya) was destroyed shortly thereafter. Beginning in December of 1948, Yaffa was, part by part, annexed to Tel Aviv.
Today, despite the annexation and the Hebraization of the street signs, Yaffa maintains an Arab character in popular discourse. The call to prayer is heard in the streets, and the أبو العافي (Abulafia) bakery and أبو حسن (Abu Hassan) hummus restaurant and remain where they have been since the 1760s and 1970s, respectively. But increasing gentrification, rising rent prices, cafes and restaurants which cater to tourists and settlers, and the construction of Jewish-only residential projects threaten to continue the ethnic cleansing of the ancient city.
Yaffan Cuisine
Israeli occupation has tended to collapse some of the regional distinctions within Palestinian cuisine, as Palestinians are forced into exile or else crowded into Gaza and into smaller and smaller enclaves within the West Bank. Some dishes, however, still have variations that are associated with particular cities. Stuffed red carrots (محشي الجزر الأحمر; "maḥshi al-jazar al-'aḥmar"), cored and filled with rice and spiced meat, are a dish common throughout Palestine but cooked differently everywhere: in a sauce of lemon juice, pomegranate molasses, and red tahina in Gaza; in tamarind paste in Al-Quds and Ramallah; and in orange juice in the orange-rich Yaffa region. Abu Hassan restaurant serves مسبحة (msabbaha), a Yaffan classic in which chickpeas and tahina are mixed with green chili pepper, and lemon juice.

Ingredients:
For the dough (makes 32):
500g flour (4 cups + 1 Tbsp)
1 tsp table salt
2 Tbsp olive oil
Enough water to form a soft, tacky dough (about 1 3/4 cup / 500mL)
For the meat filling (makes 16):
125g vegetarian ground beef (as a substitute for minced lamb)
1 small yellow onion, minced
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/2 Tbsp ground sumac
1/2 Tbsp pomegranate molasses (optional)
For the spinach filling (makes 16):
500g spinach, washed and chopped
1 tsp kosher salt, for removing water
1 small yellow onion, minced
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp table salt, or to taste
Squeeze of lemon juice
1 tsp shatta (hot red pepper paste)
1/2 Tbsp pomegranate molasses (optional)
Some recipes include sumac in the spinach filling, but this is not considered traditional.
Instructions:
For the dough:
1. Measure dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Add oil and mix briefly. Add water, a little at a time, until the dough comes together into a slightly tacky ball. Knead for five minutes, until smooth and elastic.
2. Divide dough into 16 balls of about 50g each. Roll it out into a cylinder and cut it in half repeatedly; or weigh the dough using a kitchen scale and divide by 16.
3. Pour some olive oil in a tray or baking sheet and coat each dough ball. Leave them on the tray, covered, to rest while you prepare the fillings.

For the meat filling:
1. Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil on medium-high. Add meat and fry, stirring often, until nearly cooked through.
2. Add onions, salt, and spices and fry until onion is translucent.
3. Remove from heat. Stir in sumac and pomegranate molasses. Taste and adjust. Let cool.
For the spinach filling:
1. Mix spinach with salt and let sit 10-15 minutes. Squeeze to remove excess water.
2. Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in medium-high. Fry onion, salt, and pepper for a minute until translucent.
3. Combine all ingredients. Taste and adjust salt.
To assemble:
1. Oil a clean work surface, as well as your hands. Spread a dough ball out into a very thin, translucent circle by repeatedly patting with your fingers while pushing outwards. Be sure to push outwards from the center so that the circle does not become too thin at the edges. A few small holes are okay, since the dough will be folded and rolled in on itself.

2. Cut the circle in half with a sharp knife. Spread 1/16 of either filling in a thin line along the cut edge, leaving a margin of 1 cm (1/2") or so.

3. Roll the edge of the dough (the cut edge) over to encase the filling. Continue rolling, trying as much as possible to exclude air, until you have a long rope of dough.

4. Roll the rope around in a tight spiral. Tuck the very end of the dough underneath and press to seal. Place on a preparing baking sheet.

5. Repeat until the filling and dough are used up. Meanwhile, preheat an oven to 375 °F (190 °C). Bake the safiha in the top third of the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden in color.
Serve warm with yoghurt.

This huge brick 1900 Craftsman in New Castle, Indiana is a fixer upper, but it has such unique features, it's well worth the price. 5bds, 4ba, reduced $10.1K to $289,900.
Large entrance hall with original butternut wood.
The parlor has attractive turquoise tiles on the fireplace and it has beautiful built-in bookcases.
The living room also has a fireplace, plus look at those beautiful columns between the living and dining rooms. And, the owners left an organ, too.
The dining room has double doors to the hall, wainscoting, and a built-in cabinet. They also left a piano. I love the swinging door to the kitchen- it has a little window just like a restaurant door.
I like the table over the radiator here in the informal dining room and it also has a beautiful built-in cabinet.
The kitchen has original cabinets, but one thing confuses me. It looks like they replaced some of the door fronts with plywood. Other than that, it's a wonderful kitchen.
The pantry has this original big honkin' freezer. I wonder if it still works. Even if it doesn't, it's cool and could be used for storage.
Nice remodeled powder room has the original medicine cabinet and a nice pedestal sink.

The finished basement has a rec room with a bar. It needs a floor and I love the stained glass ceiling, but I wonder if it can be refurbished.
There's also a full kitchen down here.
On the landing to the 2nd level is a delicate stained glass window.
At the top of the stairs is a large sitting area with a fireplace. The roof must've leaked b/c all the ceilings on this floor need repair.
The principal bedroom has lovely fireplace with mint green tiles.
The ceiling is damaged in here and it's also affected the wall, but look at the little cubby. Love the doors, too.
This bathroom between 2 bedrooms is original. Look at how beautiful the tile is, and that little font with the faucet in the wall. How unique is that? It has the original sconces and etched mirror on the medicine cabinet.
The bedrooms are so full of light.
The smaller room was used as a child's room.
Look at this bath- love the tile around the sink and the original heater. It has a built-in cabinet, but whatever that wire is hanging down, should be fixed b/c it's not going to pass inspection.
This is nice- a large 2nd level deck.
The attic is a very large finished space but the ceiling is water damaged.
This area need to be finished.
The beautiful outdoor wood features need to be repainted.
There's a 2 car garage, but not much of a yard b/c most of the space was blacktopped. The lot is .25 acre.

Dragon Gambit thoughts
So a lot of reptiles need specific environments for proper shedding otherwise they get stuff like stuck shed which is irritating at the best of times and can potentially cause gangrene at the worst, and dragons aren't much different.
Gambit being from the hot and humid bayous of Louisiana especially has difficulty with this because he needs a very specific set of parameters for a good shed or it will be hell for him.
So there are two options rogue can take to help him :
1.set up the most luxurious bath: Water just at 85° F, a sauna stove with perfumed water of pine, lavander, mint, and sorrel extract; bath salts, made with minerals from Appalachia mountain range and Caribbean sea salt; special mud scrub over his whole body plus face mask; organic water herbs floating in the water and sleeping in it for at least 20 minutes; special protein powder natural pine tar soap; and natural plant loofa for scrubbing.
2. Take him to a southern swamp and let him roll in the muddy, mosquito infested water like a pig and let him scratch himself against a moldy log.
Its expensive but she always chooses the fancy bath

Jägermeister
Chapter Two: Apologies
Newt and Hermann were halfway to the door when Herc intercepted them, gesturing with his good arm.
They followed him down the hall to an office that had once belonged to Marshal Pentecost and would no doubt soon belong to Marshal Hansen, but for the moment was only a shrine.
The official debrief would come later, after everyone had been cleared by Medical, gotten drunk, gotten sick, slept for forty-eight hours, and then gotten drunk again.
This was the unofficial debrief, also known as damage control. Newt had been assigned enough mandatory training sessions with Public Affairs to be familiar with the concept.
He sat down so Hermann would too. Herc sat behind the Marshal’s desk. Max lay at his feet, asleep or possibly just listless.
Herc was clearly grieving, but he was also the person responsible for breaking the news to the world that it was not, in fact, ending and would probably have to do something about the environment after all.
“I won’t keep you long, gents,” said Herc. “I want you both to report to Medical as soon as we’re finished here.”
“Of course, sir,” said Hermann, a little too loudly so that it would drown out Newt’s groan.
“Consider yourselves lucky,” said Herc. “I have a meeting with the United Nations next. That's why I need to talk to the two of you. They aren't going to be satisfied with simply hearing that we saved the world.”
Newt sniffed, or would have if his nostrils hadn’t been sealed shut with dried blood. “That seems a little ungrateful.”
Herc ignored him. “They're going to want to hear exactly how we did it.”
“With the power of friendship,” said Newt.
Hermann rapped him on the ankle with his cane. He never did it very hard, but this time it was barely a tap. Probably because he would feel it too.
“I know what happened at the bottom of the Pacific,” Herc managed to say it without wincing too much, “but I don’t know what happened before that, and I sure as hell don’t know how much of it we’re going to want to share with the class. Start with whatever the hell Stacker said to you after you drifted with the kaiju.”
“Oh, uh, okay.”
Apparently Newt was up. He only had an audience of two, but that was enough to trigger the social anxiety he usually tried to bluster his way through.
“Well, he sent me to Kowloon, to look for a kaiju organ harvester named Hannibal Chau, who was um, known to the PPDC. Pentecost thought he might be able to supply me with a kaiju brain for a second drift. I did a little UV scavenger hunt and found an apothecary at the northeast corner of Fong and Tull. When I entered and was clearly not an octogenarian Chinese woman, they asked if I was after kaiju bone powder for ‘male potency.’ I told them I was looking for Chau, and they wished me good luck.”
He tried to fall back on the semi-eidetic memory that had gotten him through six doctorates. There was no point leaving out the embarrassing parts. Hell, Hermann had probably seen most of them. Although Hermann seemed to be paying even closer attention to Newt than the Marshal, even if he did have some trouble making eye contact after the words ‘male potency.’
“They had this fake shelf of apothecary jars that slid open to reveal specimen jars. It was epic. They had a lymph gland from a Cat II, a mint condition skin cuticle- they even had skin parasites. Live ones! Apparently you can keep them alive if you soak them in ammonia. I’ve never gotten a live one, or I probably would have figured that out on my own.”
Newt cleared his throat, which felt dryer than one of Hermann’s lectures on appropriate workplace behavior. Herc poured a glass of water from the pitcher on the desk and handed it to Newt.
He hadn’t realized he was thirsty until he’d finished half of it.
“So Hannibal Chau- In case it isn’t obvious enough that’s a fake name, he told me it came from his favorite historical character and his second favorite Szechuan restaurant in Brooklyn, which is just weird. The two best Szechuan restaurants in Brooklyn are Shan and Hung Far Low. Plus, you should have seen what he was wearing. You know, I bet he really named himself after Hannibal Lecter, because he dressed like if Mads Mikkelsen went through a Manhua phase. If I ever dress like that, please assume I'm possessed.”
Hermann tapped him on the ankle again.
“Right,” said Newt. “So Chau asked who sent me, and when I didn’t tell him, he stuck a knife up my nostril. So I told him. Then I told him I wanted a kaiju brain to drift with. Again.”
“Did he stick his knife up your other nostril?” asked Herc.
“Let’s go with that,” said Newt. “Anyhoozles, that was right around the time the double event started, so he decided that it was my fault and that I wouldn't get to ride it out in his bespoke panic room. At first, I thought he was full of shit- I mean, Hermann predicted a double event ages ago.
“At first?” prompted Herc.
“Otachi was looking for me. She um- She tracked me to the Anti-Kaiju Shelter, and then she tried to French me. Just kidding. I think she might have been scenting me? Like a snake’s vomeronasal organ? Although with the bioluminescence, it seemed more like a lure- Whatever. Danger distracted her with an oil tanker to the face. I watched her go down, and then I went looking for Chau again, because I needed his help to harvest her hindbrain. I mean, I would have. It was Jell-O. I was about to give up and go see if anything was left of Leatherback when one of the harvesters said they could hear a heartbeat.”
“Otachi was still alive?” asked Herc. “I thought you said she was braindead?”
“She was,” Newt tried not to sound condescending, because he knew Herc was having an even harder day than the rest of them. “She was-”
“Pregnant,” finished Hermann.
“Cheater. You already knew. Yeah, well, I would have been Baby’s First Solid Meal if Chau hadn’t beaten me to it.”
Hermann’s cane brushed against Newt’s ankle again, but this time it remained there, a steady point of pressure.
“I believe I arrived not long after that,” Hermann said eventually, to fill the silence Newt had left behind.
“Yeah, Hermann got there just in time for the fun part. I used the neural spike I’d designed for Mutavore, you know, since we don’t exactly have any XXXXXL PONs units lying around. I was just about to strap in when Hermann showed up and offered to share the neural load. We saw, you know, everything we told everyone in LOCCENT. Then we told everyone in LOCCENT.”
“Is that all you saw in the drift?” asked Herc.
“All that is currently relevant,” said Hermann. He said it so soon after Newt froze that Herc might not have even noticed if it weren’t for the choking. Herc nudged the half-empty glass of water closer to Newt.
“Hermann’s right,” said Newt, because Hermann had to be right. The clock had stopped . “There was nothing tactically interesting. At least, I think- I mean, tactics aren’t exactly my area of expertise , but unless you want colonization life hacks or ten tips for cloning kaiju…”
“You are not to clone a kaiju,” Herc and Hermann said in perfect unison.
Newt felt that was apropos of very little, if not actually nothing. “What if I just made a cyborg Jaeger from kaiju cerebrospinal fluid DNA like they did in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002)?”
“No,” said Hermann, who probably hadn’t even seen Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002). He turned to Herc and added, “There was nothing in the drift about the nature of the Breach’s origin, or whether another one could be opened.”
Herc sighed. “All right. I’ll expect full reports once you’re cleared by Medical.”
Newt stood first so he could hold out an arm for Hermann. He paused when they got to the door and turned back to Herc.
“I’m sorry about your son, dude. He was actually super nice to me after I helped Max with his bilious vomiting syndrome. He even got some of the other rangers to lay off. You’re gonna’ wanna’ keep giving Max slippery elm extract, by the way.”
Herc faltered for a moment. Slippery elm had that effect on people. Then again, so did Newt.
“I'm also sorry, you know, that I didn't get the information in time to…” Newt trailed off. He had that effect on himself sometimes too.
“Please don't apologize,” said Herc. “It’s clear that you both did everything within reason and quite a lot that wasn't.”
“I’m also sorry for calling you a fascist," he added. "It was drift bleed from Hermann.”
Hermann rapped him on the ankle, except this time it was hard enough to sting. Newt should never have freed up his cane for offense. Hermann had watched way too much Kwoon combat.
“I mean, uh, a case of mistaken identity.”
“Glad to hear it,” said Herc, rising to his feet. "Thank you, gents."
“See you later," said Newt. "Good luck with the UN. Tell them I said their Wall of Life was an epic fail.”
“I will not,” said Herc. “What I will do is give Medical a call and tell them to expect you both shortly. You experienced neural overload testing a damaged PONs for Operation Pitfall. That’s the official story until I can report to whoever the hell I report to now. Understood?”
“Yes, sir,” said Hermann. At least he didn’t salute this time.
Newt was much less disappointed about not getting to be a rockstar than he would have anticipated. Maybe it was all the unprecedented neurological damage, but for some reason, it didn’t seem to matter anymore.

For the past month or so I've been trying to grow two plants. I got seeds from walmart. Everyone knows the seeds from Walmart who goes to Walmart and looks at seeds. Burpees brand. Anyway the two plants are spearmint and basil. Of the two I wanted the spearmint to sprout first so I could use those leaves to make an insect repellent that I could spray onto the basil. For those who don't know, mint plants tend to be very good at repelling insects for the same reason that we like the cooling sensation. Menthol is pretty good at making bugs really unhappy to take a bite. But such was my luck that after consecutively sowing pretty much 3/4 of the pack of seeds, none of them did anything. It has been over a month since I started this. I've been able to get 10 plants of Basil. 10 individual basil organisms. Nine of them didn't survive replanting but that's just inexperience I think. The mint on the other hand, there is no excuse. The seeds simply will not sprout. No matter the fuck what I do. The package says to start indoors, and plant after the last winter frost. It says to cover lightly and keep moist, and seedlings should emerge within 1-2 weeks. I started this right in the middle of the ideal sowing period of spearmint. I tried sprouting them in a wet paper towel. I tried covering them lightly and keeping them very moist. I tried covering them lightly and keeping them slightly moist. I tried lightly covering them and just watering them whenever the soil looked like it would become airborne from lack of moisture. These fuckign seeds will. Not. sprout.
They are each covered in a yellow powder/paste, which can be rinsed off. I can only imagine that this yellow substance is a rooting hormone or something. But clearly whatever it is doesn't help the seeds I bought to sprout. I shall reiterate that it has been over a month and I have seen absolutely jack diddly squat point shit last name donut no relation to Dunkin on the spearmint front, but the basil? The basil has grown past confinement. The basil says to compress lightly and plant 18 inches apart or something of the like that I don't remember because I didn't have to keep looking at the damn packet wondering why a legitimate GARDEN WEED was being so fussy about existing.

I think my aesthetic might be something along the lines of cottagecore and light academia with a tinge of Studio Ghibli and bits and pieces of chaotic academia. So this includes:
classical music blaring out of cheap speakers, homemade food served in reused takeout containers, half dying houseplants in everything but traditional flower pots, the fragrance of jasmine and mint, mirrors reflecting sunlight on to disorganised bookshelves with the most random collection of books, soups in glassware, gel pen doodles all over my notes, herbal teas in whiskey glasses, locally sourced incense sticks, handmade woolen blankets over commercially sold quilts, baking granola bars on a lazy sunday afternoon, adding chocolate to literally everything, mid day naps when the weather is cloudy yet humid, ribbon ties instead of stapler pins, making my own spice powders, scented oil lamps, being obsessed with cloves, sleeping on a bed full of pillows only to find over half of them on the floor next morning, missing alarms because closing my eyes for two more seconds won't make me fall asleep again, picking flowers and herbs from the garden, sleepy afternoons, careful skincare but with the most day to day products, eucalyptus oil, use and throw inhalers to deal with my anxiety because the smell of menthol calms me down, short nails and neutral manicure, smelling like flowers one day and like the sea the other, getting excited whenever I spot the moon, absolutely in awe and in love with the clouds because they're amazing and so creative, puppies, calligraphy using ball pens, homemade mocha latte using soya milk, my grandma's childhood earrings that I wear all the time, newspapers, organic vegetables sold by retired social workers, tote bags, reusable metal water bottles, hot showers and cold rinses, using my grandmother's favorite brand of soap because I love smelling like her, herbal hair oil, smelling like sandalwood, cooking pasta with the family, reading secondhand books, collecting fused light bulbs, pencil underlines, postcards, 1 am poetry, pop instrumentals and pensive journaling, benzene rings on page margins, berry flavoured cough syrup, baking bread, long walks, loud conversations, thrifting, e-books, chocolate wrappers hidden between dictionary pages, colourful periodic table prints, plushies, honey, fleece blankets, sleeping cats, signet ring, dried rose I'd bought for myself and carried around like a trophy travelling back home with it in the public bus, twinning perfumes coincidentally with my best friend, vintage looking brand new ink pen and expired ink, sticky notes with motivational quotes covering my wall, never buying perfumes and only using the ones I'm gifted, random words that remind me of niche incidents or memories written along the corners of my study material, pearl jewelry set that my dad gifted my mom but it's me who wears it now, combat boots bought at ¼th it's price at a discount clearance sale, all my jackets being bought from different countries by my dad and thus each serving as a token of memory, lipstick shades that match only extremely specific vibes and look off and odd at other times, cherry lip balm stick that I've used only twice, daily calendar sheets reused as a notepad, birthday candles from my 16th birthday sitting on my work table, the lingering smell of multiple beverages in my room because I seldom wash the cups I drank them from and now they're cluttered all over the room, hand me down luxury watches older than me, chipped nailpolish, reminders written down on tissue papers, bus tickets all over my bag, sugar-free chewing gum, deodorant that never washes off my clothes, wearing clothes purchased 5 years ago and getting compliments simply because it's not trendy but is unique, mini origami cranes, rose sprays, lychee scented sanitizer, baking bread at home on weekends, homemade hair masks, turning up late because i was busy enjoying life walking through the eucalyptus grove on the way to class, running to the station yet missing the train, all my everyday ornaments having a deeper meaning to me.

Kurogiri x reader. In the kitchen
(I do not own My Hero Academia or the characters within. Anything associated with that fandom belongs to Horikoshi Kohei. This story belongs to my 2023 Spice-tober collection. I hope you enjoy. If this story isn’t your cup of tea, blend of spices, or brew of coffee move on. Reader discretion is advised.)
TW: On the run, safehouse, anniversary celebration, sex on a counter, sex scene, sensory blocking. WC: 970
You were helping Kurogiri finish dinner in the kitchen of your safehouse that the two of you managed to escape to when the last hideout you had was breached. He pulled you through one of his warp gates to this place as Shigaraki cursed the two of you out for abandoning the League. You weren’t a villain nor were you a hero but you had found love and companionship within Kurogiri. His Master had allowed you to stay with him if you wouldn’t rat them out to any hero organization or the police. You promised to not reveal their location or their motives if you were allowed to stay with Kurogiri. The deal was struck and you stayed with him, the Master sending occasional care packages to your location to make sure that the both of you were able to eat and be cared for. Master, even though you didn’t know his name sent the two of you a very special package for tonight with a note saying ‘Happy anniversary. Enjoy the meal.’
Upon reading the note, you had thought back and it had been a full year since the two of you first met and you moved in to live with Kurogiri and the League, becoming a type of surrogate older sister and mother to some of the members of the League. But now, the two of you were alone, finishing up a lovely meal of angel hair pasta with a simple cream sauce, some poached lobster tails with a little bit of truffle and seaweed on top to finish the meal off as a garnish, and some steamed asparagus to go as a type of vegetable. Kurogiri was plating the meal as you hugged him from behind and looked over at the food.
“Dinner will be ready soon, go wash up please.” He told you and you let go of him to wash your hands as he set the table and waited for you to join him at the table. He pulled out your chair for you and pushed it in before he sat down and the two of you began to eat. You enjoyed the meal and complimented him on how the flavors came together well. “Thank you. I’ll send Master a thank you tomorrow.” He spoke and ate his food. You looked at him with curiosity as he was normally very prompt at sending updates or messages to Master whenever he felt need to report in. “Why until tomorrow morning?” You asked as you ate the last few bites of food off your plate. “Because, you and I will be occupied until tomorrow morning.” He spoke, having finished his meal and he was now staring at you intently, resting his head on his hands that he had folded together, with his elbows propped up on the table. You set your fork down as you finished the last bite and felt your face grow warm as he stood up and took the plates into the kitchen.
“Please follow me.” He spoke, looking back over his shoulder at you, waiting for you to get up and follow him. He led you into the kitchen and washed the dishes, letting you look around the kitchen and peek into the fridge where you found two mini lava cakes with some raspberries and blueberries which had been made into a type of glaze and some mint leaves. You pulled them out and Kurogiri seemed to give you his form of a smile. “I see you found the dessert. Bring it over and I’ll finish the dessert off.” He spoke and you brought him the desserts where he sprinkled some powdered sugar over the lava cakes and placed the mint leaves on top. He then pushed one of the desserts to you as you were now sitting on the counter to watch him work. You ate your dessert and he ate his.
“Happy anniversary, Y/n. I’m glad that we met.” He told you. Once the desserts were finished, he set the plates in the sink and he stood in front of you. You looked at him and he kissed you deeply, managing to pull you closer and manage to remove your shorts and underwear from your person and open your legs so he could work his bulge out of his pants and into your wet and warm entrance. He wrapped your legs around his waist and he supported your lower back as he thrusted into you and buried his face into your neck. You felt a sense of calm with the cool touch of the dark purple mist that made up his body and had begun to spread out from his body, blocking out the world around the two of you, helping you to focus on just what was going on in the moment. You wrapped your arms around the cool metal brace that protected his neck and felt yourself clench down on his cock, making him release inside of you and kiss you gently. “Happy anniversary, Kurogiri.” You told him and kissed him back between pants as you came down from your high. He pulled out of you and let you hold onto him as he cleaned up the mess on the counter before he carried you to the bedroom where the two of you cuddled for the rest of the evening. The end.

[ID: Three rectangular, dark golden brown pastries on a plate. The pastries are filled with a deep golden curd, drizzled with white icing, and garnished with sprigs of fresh thyme and curls of lemon peel. A lemon wedge sits to the left of the plate. End ID.]
Puff pastry tarts with lemon-thyme curd
Flaky, crispy puff pastry is topped with a homemade lemon curd in this classic mini-tart recipe, perfect for breakfast, brunch, tea, or dessert. The savory pastry and the brightness of the lemon cut the sweetness of the curd, while fresh thyme adds a bit of minty, peppery complexity.
Recipe under the cut!
Patreon | Tip jar
Makes 12 pastries.
Ingredients:
For the pastry:
1 batch puff pastry
For the curd:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tablespoon agar agar flakes (or 1/2 tsp agar powder)
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
Zest of two lemons (about 1/2 Tbsp)
1/2 cup (120g) non-dairy margarine
2 sprigs fresh thyme leaves, removed from stems and minced
Pinch salt
Crack of black pepper (optional)
Replace the agar with 1 Tbsp of cornstarch in a pinch.
For the 'egg' wash:
1 Tbsp non-dairy milk
1 Tbsp agave nectar
Instructions:
For the curd:
1. Juice and zest the lemons. Scrub lemons under running water for a few seconds to clean their peels (especially if they're not organic). Use a surform tool to zest the lemons, or use a vegetable peeler to remove just the top layer of the peel (trying not to take too much of the white pith) into strips, and then mince.
Press and roll the lemons firmly against a hard surface to make juicing easier, then cut them in half and juice with a reamer or citrus press. Pass the juice through a fine sieve to remove seeds and fibers.
2. Make the curd. Whisk together sugar, agar or cornstarch, lemon zest, thyme, and salt in a small pot. Add lemon juice and stir to combine. Add margarine.
3. Bring curd mixture to a low boil over medium heat, whisking constantly. Lower the heat to medium low for and continue to cook, stirring often, or 10-30 minutes until thickened.
You will know it is thick enough when you can run a finger across the back of a spoon dipped in the curd, and the trail your finger made does not collapse back into the curd but remains visible. Keep in mind that it will thicken further as it cools!
4. Remove curd from the pot into a bowl and refrigerate until cold.
For the wash:
Whisk ingredients together in a small bowl. Set aside.
To assemble:
1. Cut your puff pastry in half and refrigerate the half you're not working with. Roll the other half out into an 8 x 12” (20 x 30cm) rectangle, then cut it into 6 4” (10cm) squares.
2. With a small, sharp knife, score the edges of each square to form a smaller square about two inches in diameter in the center of each pastry. Be careful not to cut all the way through the pastry—you just want to create a little bit of separation while leaving the square in one piece.

3. Refrigerate the dough squares you have formed and repeat with the other half of the puff pastry.
4. Brush the pastry squares with the 'egg' wash mixture and bake in a preheated oven at 400 °F (205 °C) for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown.
5. Using a sharp knife, gently trace over the previously scored squares to re-separate; press each central square down, leaving the outer borders puffy and elevated.

6. Add a dollop of lemon curd to each square and garnish with thyme, mint, or candied lemon peel, or drizzle with a mixture of powdered sugar and non-dairy milk.
Note that non-vegan recipes for puff pastry tarts with fruit curd often instruct you to bake them, for some or all of the cooking time, with the curd already added—with an eggless curd, I found that this resulted in the curd bubbling up and spilling over the sides of the pastries, then burning to the bottom.

1, 4, 13, 28, and A (for the character/creator asks!) Thank you 💛
1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
30 minutes probably.
4. How easy is it to earn their trust?
Mostly pretty easy, but it usually depends.
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
Evie's most fond of purple, powder pink, mint green, and black. But as for what color she looks best in (or she thinks she looks best in)... I'm not sure. And I don't think she can really decide either.
28. Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
Definitely not. She doesn't really like to be led on. If something she needs to know is bad, just tell her so and get it over with sooner lol.
A) Why are you excited about this character?
OG HSS trilogy is my favorite choices series of all time for many reasons. The stories are enjoyable, the characters are compelling, the MC is very wildcard and flexible, you have choices that actually matter, and the romance routes with Aiden feel so organic.
All of that plays a part in my investment in building the character of Evie– how does she interact with others? What activities does she do? What is the backstory that informs the choices I make for her in the game? What becomes of her and her friends after the trilogy? What were they up to during the HSS:CA timeline? Where will they end up in the future?
Basically the OG HSS Trilogy and its MC are just... very immersive lol.

Faeries and Food
People describe faeries as having a sophisticated and sensitive palate, preferring delicacies that represent their magical nature in the hidden worlds of mythology. People believe that these heavenly entities are pleased with the cleanest and most organic offerings, often ones that remain untouchable by humans. Faeries are known to have a unique taste for fruits and berries, especially those that grow wild in the forest. Among their favorites are raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries, which appeal to the faeries' senses with their vivid colors and delicious flavors. Faeries typically find these fruits in tiny, concealed areas shielded from human sight, providing a peaceful gathering and feeding place.
Honey is another delicacy that faeries adore. It is the ideal treat for these fantastical animals because of its golden color and rich, sweet flavor. They have a reputation for searching for the purest and sweetest honey, which is frequently located deep within old forests where bees have been building their colonies for many years. It is also believed that faeries enjoy flower nectar, sipping it slowly as they dart from bloom to bloom. Fruits and honey attract faeries, but they also enjoy dairy products, particularly those that are creamy and fresh. People sometimes offer fresh milk, cream, and butter as exceptional pleasures to court the faeries' favor. People sometimes serve these delicious dairy products with plain, healthy bread, prepared to perfection using the best grains. The faeries' diet also includes a significant amount of edible flowers and herbs. They choose the most aromatic and tasty herbs since they are renowned for having a deep understanding of the natural world. Mint, thyme, and lavender are popular additions to gardens, as are delicate flowers like nasturtiums, violets, and lavender. The faeries frequently use these ingredients to create light, cool dishes that symbolize their affinity for the natural world.
Reports occasionally suggest that faeries consume small cakes and pastries, especially those infused with their favorite flavors. People often produce these sweets with love and care, and they are straightforward yet wonderful. People often decorate popular options like shortbread, honey cakes, and fruit tarts with powdered sugar or edible flowers. Dishes that honor the natural world in its purest and most beautiful forms essentially draw faeries. The flavor preferences of faeries reflect their enchanted, otherworldly existence, ranging from the delicacy of wild berries to the richness of fresh dairy and the olfactory enticement of herbs and flowers. Real or imagined, these treats serve as a reminder of the beauty inherent in even the most basic, organic meals.

Sometimes I roll over and try to do some tidying of my nightstand. Put things back in the drawer, get trash into the trashcan underneath, stack things and rearrange things to make it tidier and easier to use.
If I have a bit more energy, I might sit up and kind of make the bed around myself. Untangle blankets arrange pillows & stuffies (if there are any). Sometimes that encourages me to stand up to finish the job. If not, at least I have fixed minor irritations like sideways blankets or bunched up pillows.
Even if I don't get out of bed that minute, I've made minor improvements to my environment, which is self care.
Other minor self care things I do from the depression or illness nest:
Lotion
Lip balm
Trim fingernails
Wet wipe for face, neck, maybe other body parts
Body powder
Mints or gum
Small snack
Candle
Essential oils
Hair care
Take medication
Vitamins
Room /linen spray
Change one article of clothing
Put stickers in my journal
Write or draw
Make lists
Grab a fidget or sensory toy and play for a minute
Pet a cat or plushy
Sort things (sometimes I put my medications in alphabet order, lol, or I grab the coin jar and sort by date or try to find coins with family members birth years, or I organize a "junk box" leftover from a quick tidy
Fold things (clothes, towels, origami, whatever)
Untangle yarn, wrap balls
On days I have more energy, I try to make sure that my bed area is well stocked with these kinds of supplies, so next time I have a "nest" day (migraine, low energy, too dizzy, just feeling crappy), I have everything I need close at hand.
ALL OF THESE REQUIRE GETTING OUT OF BED
